(NRSP) Introduction The College Board, a national educational organization, is conducting a search for an Assistant Director, National Recognition and Scholarship Programs in our Enrollment Department, who will be resident in our Reston, VA Office. This is a Grant Funded Position. Position Summary The Assistant Director will be responsible for overseeing the Siemens AP Awards, a national scholarship program for students who excel in AP math and science. In addition the position will coordinate a variety of functions for the Siemens Competition and assists with related scholarship and recognition programs. The Assistant Director works closely with the Director and Associate Director and is integrally involved in the development and implementation of program guidelines and procedures for the Siemens programs. The Assistant Director oversees all customer service inquires regarding the Siemens programs. Responsibilities Oversees all aspects of the Siemens AP Awards for students. This includes serving as the point of contact with ETS, AP, BT New Media, and the Siemens Foundation. Responsible for program-related activities such as operations of the student selection process, communications with winners and applicants, updating the website, facilitating the public announcement of the winners, establishing and monitoring timelines, and working with regional offices to inform them about these awards.
Develops preliminary business requirements and assists in coordinating annual development efforts with BT and ETS staff for the Siemens AP.
Responsible for the documentation of policies and procedures for selected recognition and scholarship programs. Generates reports and analyses to College Board management, Siemens Foundation and ETS.
Oversees the student registration database and online travel profile site for the Siemens Competition. Follows quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy of the entries. Registers students who are unable to register online. Coordinates the reconciliation of the data files that are transmitted to and received from the ETS database. Prepares, analyzes and sends reports on application numbers to management as well as to the foundation and partner universities.
Coordinates the planning and execution of functions for the Siemens Competition including establishing calendars and work plans, overseeing the notifications to students, teachers, high schools and universities; updates a system to accurately track all records related to the competition such as required documents, travel plans, designated chaperones, etc. Travel to competitions and meetings are required.
Coordinates the planning and execution of functions for the Siemens Discovery programs (STARs, STEM Institute, WCCTWC) including establishing calendars and work plans. Assists with review of program application and judging rubrics. Oversees communication with judges.
Responsible for recording and documenting action items at program meetings and updating task lists to reflect program changes. Maintains an up-to-date working list of all pending and completed actions.
Serves as the point of contact for non-routine customer service questions and concerns for the Siemens Competition and AP Awards program. Fields telephone, written and email requests for information, data and publications; either responding on behalf of the department or forwarding inquiries to appropriate staff. A number of these inquiries require technical interpretation of program eligibility guidelines as it relates to the scientific research of the student's project. Responds to customer service questions for other scholarship programs as needed. Works closely with other College Board programs and divisions to ensure knowledge and awareness of the various components of the programs.
Responsible for creating and managing information in databases or lists; coordinating the distribution of information or materials with and for external entities; researching or compiling data or information; developing meeting materials; processing requests for information; coordinating meeting/conference logistics with vendors and suppliers; supporting development and production of program-related publications.
Performs a variety of writing tasks including preparing complex reports, instructional guidelines, website updates and preparing correspondence for internal/external review.
Assists with various other special projects, as required. Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in education or related field preferred. Two to three years of related experience in program management and customer relations preferred. Additional Requirements Ability to effectively coordinate multiple responsibilities simultaneously
