Performs casework duties under general supervision; does related work as required. Ess! ential Duties
Conduct investigations and family assessments of child abuse and neglect complaints; conduct immediate and ongoing safety assessments of the child/ren; obtain detailed information about the family (child abuse/neglect allegations, family history, current functioning of all family members, etc.) from child/ren, parents and/or caretakers, extended family, professionals and other members of the community through face-to-face and telephone interviews and through home and site visits; conduct risk assessments of family with regard to future abuse/neglect; complete assessment or investigation either by summarizing family functioning and needs or through disposition of abuse/neglect investigation; testify in district and circuit courts in civil and criminal court proceedings; interpret state and local laws, policies and procedures; report all findings to involved parties and the State per state and local policy and procedures. Complete all case documentation and ! case records in accordance with State and local policies and p! rocedures, including data entry in the state-automated systems that includes OASIS and the local-automated system CAMPS and/or its' equivalent. This work is to be completed within the timeframes specified within the unit, subject to some modification depending on the unit's caseload. Participate in community, agency, division and unit meetings and on committees and task forces as there is a need for representation from the agency or unit; provide training and education to community groups through public speaking engagements; provide other supportive job functions, such as group facilitation in the Fatherhood Program; to participate as a consultant to persons conducting the local CPS hotline function and to participate in agency case staffings and family conferences as needed. Provide ongoing case management services to include: develop individualized services plans for children and families with the involvement and input of families, extended family and friends, professiona! ls and other service providers; conduct family conferences to assist in the safety planning for children and families and the assessment of family functioning including strengths and needs; make referrals for services and assist in coordinating services for children and families with resources/service providers in the community; provide parenting education and counseling directly to children and families; conduct home, school and other field visits to conduct interviews with children, families, extended family and friends, and professionals to assess safety, risk, strengths and needs; provide written reports. Provide rotating coverage for CPS/Child Protective Services on-call (24 hour basis) by being available in a timely fashion by phone and in-person response to CPS reports after hours, on holidays, and on weekends as mandated in State law and policy and local policy and procedures. Mandated participation on a Henrico County Shelter Team with assignments as designated by ! the Emergency Operations Center and agency leadership staff. Performs r! elated work as assigned and accepts additional assignments when necessary.

Considerable knowledge of current social, economic and health concerns; considerable knowledge of the federal Social Security Act and of casework philosophy, methods and practices; considerable knowledge of individual and group behavior and of current literature and trends in the social work field; knowledge of community resources available to meet client's needs; ability to make independent judgments; ability to understand and interpret laws and regulations and to deal effectively with the public; ability to plan and organize work; ability to gather facts and report them accurately and to write reports. Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a master's degree in social work; OR , if the required master's degree is in a related social science field such as sociology, psychology or vocational rehabilitation, one (1) year of social work experience is required; OR , a bachelor's degree plus t! wo (2) years of social work experience for positions outside of Social Services; OR , any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Additional Information
Two (2) vacancies may be filled from this posting. Consideration will be given to hiring an additional candidate from this recruitment for a vacant Senior Social Worker position in the foster care prevention program. This position provides services to children who are at-risk of out of home placement and their families, to assist them in maintaining their children in their home and community. This involves completion of family assessments and ongoing case management, to include development of a mutually agreed upon service plan and coordination of services. Significant amount of work with the county attorney, Juvenile Court and other Courts is involved, to include testifying in court and preparing reports for the Court and County attorney. This posit! ion also has the requirement for 24-hour on-call child protective servi! ces coverage on a rotating basis, and work at a designated shelter during a disaster or other emergency event.
