Performs local probation supervision and case management duties in the Community Corrections program i! n accordance with best practices; does related work as required. Essential Duties
As s member of the Drug Court Team, the Probation Officer will be part of a multi-discipline team including Circuit Court Judges, Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney, Defense Attorney, State Probation and Parole Officer, Substance Abuse Mental Health Clinicians and Sheriff's Investigator and will interact with other team members on a regular basis. Additional duties specific to this position are operating the drug testing analyzer on a weekly basis, conducting with home and field visits in conjunction with other members of the supervision team and providing case management services, including assistance with housing, transportation, GED/education employment and skills training.
Knowledge of the criminal justice system, human behavior and interventions, case management, substance abuse, domestic and sexual violence, community resources, and best practices in community corrections. Sk! illed in verbal and written communication, interviewing, effec! tive communication/motivational interviewing, problem solving, and basic computer operation. Demonstrated ability in time management, organization, prioritizing tasks, learning and using various software applications, personal accountability, holding clients accountable, teamwork, and establishing and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, customers and colleagues. Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a bachelor's degree in social work, criminal justice field, or human services field and one (1) year of related work experience; OR , any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Additional Information
This is a state grant-funded position and is subject to the yearly approval of the state budget.
