PROBATION COUNSELOR I

Location: Fairfax, Virginia

Description: Fairfax County Government is looking of PROBATION COUNSELOR I right now, this job will be ordered in Virginia. Detailed specification about this job opportunity please give attention to these descriptions. Description:
Maintains a case load in accordance with state, agency and local guidelines; required to perform pre-trial and post-trial intakes. Makes assessments of a client's mental! , physical health and drug and alcohol use. Maintains accurate case files, statistics, and client logs. Provides referrals to community agencies. Maintains collateral contact with community agencies, and court personnel to provide proactive supervision of clients; safety to the community; and support of an effective court services program. Testifies in court, and provides recommendations to judges, as deemed necessary.

Minimum

Qualifications:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree.

Special

Requirements:
Must possess a valid driver's license. The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.

Preferred

Qualifications:
One year of graduate study in social/behavioral sciences, law enforcement or education; and one ! year of professional experience in probation work, law enforce! ment, or education. Proficiency in the use of personal computers and Microsoft Word computer software. Time management skills and flexibility. Must be capable of managing various matters on different priority levels. Ability to handle pre-trial and post-trial client supervision. Must be knowledgeable in the goals of all of the Court Services' units and be willing to assist in accomplishing those goals. Must possess good judgment, which is necessary to provide sentencing or bond recommendations. Teamwork skills.
