We are in search of an experienced Staff Attorney to work within our Contracts department to be based out of our global headquarters in historic Charlottesville, Virginia or our Innsbrook office located in Richmond, Virginia. The role will involve providing strategic oversight on a variety of legal matters. Primary responsibilities include:

• Review, revise and negotiate client, vendor, and facilities-oriented contracts. • Research and advice on the protection and expansion of intellectual property rights with a heavy emp! hasis on copyright protection. • Review and prepare drafts a! nd final copies of legal documents and correspondence arising within various fields of legal expertise. • Provide litigation support as needed. • Identify issues, conduct legal research, prepare memoranda, and advise internal clients regarding many issues requiring developed skills in specified areas of expertise. • Review marketing collateral, including promotional offers, media agreements, sweepstakes and contest materials, for intellectual property and consumer protection purposes. • Assist with various corporate governance, ethics, and compliance projects and initiatives. • Assist with the formation of foreign legal entities and overseas product launch. • Assist in planning departmental growth. • Manage assigned projects to completion. • All other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will hold a high standard of professionalism and ethics; possess a high level of business acumen; be able to work autonomously as needed; possess strong w! ritten and verbal communication skills; excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making ability; good customer relations and interpersonal skills; the ability to multitask while working independently or collaborating within a cross-functional team; approachability; a strong desire to learn; and a willingness to assume difficult assignments. At least 3 years of relevant experience in a law firm or corporate legal department are required as well as a J.D. degree from an accredited law school and bar membership in a U.S jurisdiction (Virginia strongly preferred), preferably the Commonwealth of Virginia. A working knowledge of industries covered by SNL’s services is also highly desirable.
