Current Need
McKessonâs well regarded Corporate Legal Department is seeking an experienced healthcare attorney to provide legal guidance and advice to McKesson Medical-Surgicalâs businesses. This position can be located in Richmond, VA, Alphretta, GA or Jacksonville, FL.
Position Description
McKesson is seeking an attorney to provide legal support for McKesson Medical-Surgicalâs Distribution Business, including guidance and advice on reimbursement (governmental and private), anti-kickback, Stark and privacy issues, competitive bidding requirements, and payer contracts. In addition, the attorney will provide a wide array of counseling and support to! address the needs of these companies, as well as developing internal contracting processes, mitigating legal risk, and managing customer relationships. As a critical contributor to the McKesson Medical-Surgical Law Department, the attorney will have frequent interactions with internal stakeholders across multiple function groups, such as sales, finance, and billing operations. In addition, the attorney will be required to interact extensively with regulatory and compliance functions to ensure compliance and appropriate documentation.
Minimum Requirements
10 years of experience including 6+ years of experience in healthcare industry
Critical Skills
- Comprehensive commercial contract drafting and negotiation skills
- Solid understanding of applicable privacy laws
- In-depth legal knowledge that allows for expeditious problem identification and resolution
- Ability to manage simultaneous projects in an efficient and timel! y manner
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills a! nd attention to detail
- Notable business acumen dealing with risk management and organizational savvy
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to provide sound, clear legal advice to clients
- Aptitude to work well with larger team in seeking efficiencies for legal support
- Experience with DMEPOS billing companies is strongly preferred
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare anti-kickback and Stark laws
- Understanding of Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement laws
- Experience with healthcare regulations is strongly preferred
- Experience with payer contracts
- Blend of law firm and in-house experience is preferred
Juris Doctor degree with excellent academic credentials. Admission to practice law in a jurisdiction is required.
