Ready At Dawn is looking for a mid-level Design Generalist to join us in creating an immersive action adventure VR experience. Designers collaborate with design, engineering, art, and production teams to guide the creation of new features, gameplay sequences, and sometimes even workflows for the content they build. An ideal candidate is a self-starting problem-solver with proven skills in game design and communication, possessing past experience prototyping, building, scripting, and debugging shippable gameplay.

Design Generalist Responsibilities:

- Work hand-in-hand with other developers to prototype gameplay concepts and bring them to shippable quality
- Design, implement, iterate, prove out, and balance diverse gameplay systems and/or experiences
- Discuss design concepts in both formal and impromptu settings
- Connect game design goals to specific, implementable mechanics and sequences that will deliver the desired experience
- Tune values to deliver on game pacing goals over time
- Create and maintain design documents to share ideas, concepts, and specifications in clear, concise formats
- Respond to problems, prioritize tasks, and work with collaborators to meet project objectives and deadlines
- Develop competency of our in-house tools and adapt to the rapidly shifting nature of the industry and its technologies
- Stay up-to-date on trends and innovations in the game industry in order to solve design and implementation problems in our own games
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience as a designer, with a history that includes shipping at least one game in a design role
- Knowledge of game mechanics in the current highest-rated titles in the action/adventure genre
- Knowledge of some industry scripting tools
- Experience communicating with collaborators across multiple disciplines to execute on designs
- Experience taking feedback from leads, peers, and playtesters to iterate and improve on designs
- Experience working both independently and as part of a team
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
