Altria Client Services' role is to provide high quality services to the Altria family of companies, including legal services. We are currently seeking a highly qualified Senior Legal Specialist to join our Law Department in Richmond, VA.
This position is responsible for organizing, analyzing and coordinating legal issues and legal advice for complex international business projects and international businesses, working closely with in-house counsel.
The successful candidate conducts initial analyses, with attorney supervision, of regulations a! nd statutes in foreign jurisdictions, synthesizes legal analys! es done by outside counsel, monitors international legal development, provides related project planning organizational support, coordinates legal advice, provides general support on international law issues, with a focus on marketing, packaging, sales and general compliance issues.
Specific accountabilities include: Acting as the key coordination point for international business projects within the Altria Client Services Law Department, including creation and maintenance of legal issues matricesAnalyzing and monitoring international legal issues and developments in specified areasSynthesizing outside counsel advice for country-specific analyses in support of international business operationsCoordinating with in-house and outside counsel providing legal support on specific international issues, including foreign law compliance issuesAssisting in contract preparation for international business operationsDeveloping, implementing and maintaining legal advice ref! erence tools on international legal issuesAssisting in management of outside counsel budgets
Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree, preferably in LawMinimum of 5 years of prior experience working on international businesses, international law, marketing or sales law or product regulatory mattersStrong written, verbal communications and analytical skillsExperience in project planning, including use of project planning softwareStrong computer skills, including PowerPoint, Excel and Microsoft Word
