Responsible for assisting lawyers/attorneys in executing legal transactions. Responsible for securing, preparing, drafting, and processing legal documents. This includes t! he research, review and interpretation of legal documents for validity. Individuals must have thorough knowledge of legal customs/practices for examining, organizing, and processing legal documents. May oversee special legal projects. Provides resolutions to an extensive range of complicated problems. Solutions are innovative, thorough, and practicable. Works under limited direction Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is evaluated upon completion for adequacy in satisfying objectives. Represents the organization as the principal customer contact on contracts and often performs project leadership role. Interacts with senior customer personnel on significant technical matters frequently requiring coordination across organizational lines. College Degree or equivalent experience; advanced studies/degree preferred. Typically has 5 - 7 years related experience.

Job Duties
Legal Analyst Team Lead
(Single Family Default Management - Li! tigation)

This role is one of collaboration with a te! am of attorneys and legal analysts, managers, internal clients, law firms and loan servicers responsible for the management of default-related legal matters including, but not limited to, residential foreclosure, bankruptcy, eviction and the REO closing process. The successful candidate can expect to work in a very busy, fast-paced environment, where time management, good communication abilities and attention to detail are critical skills. The Team Lead functions as a team member with additional responsibility for coordinating the team-s substantive workload, in partnership with the Managing Associate General Counsel and Legal Analyst Manager, and providing guidance, training, coaching, mentoring, etc. to team members.

Basic Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge and experience handling all facets of default-related legal matters.
  • Ability to oversee the resolution of litigation, title insurance claims and other legal and business-related issues, assi! st with factual and legal research projects and assist with reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills - ability to find, evaluate risk (based on information from internal and external sources) and make sound decisions.
  • Proven ability to quickly and proactively identify and analyze problems, develop solutions and deliver results; and to positively adapt to, and drive change.
  • Train new or inexperienced legal analysts in their essential job functions.
  • Assist legal analysts with difficult issues and problems.
  • Represent the legal analyst team, with respect to the team-s substantive functions, in committees and meetings both within the Legal Division and with business partners.
  • Coordinate and balance substantive assignments and projects; ensuring consistency and providing oversight of work.
  • Provide backup coverage in the legal analysts- absence.
  • Follow and implement all directives, policies, and ! procedures applicable to the team.
  • Communicate all new or revi! sed policies, procedures and/or processes to team members to ensure they have current information.
  • Serve as a resource and content expert to team members; providing them with guidance and being available to answer questions to clarify work activities.
  • Provide an inclusive environment to ensure that all team members are provided opportunities for growth and development.
  • Coordinate and lead weekly team meetings to discuss workload and issues, recognize accomplishments, etc.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work with highly confidential information.
  • Ability to establish good internal and external working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to work professionally and collaboratively with others in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Knowledge of database development and maintenance, document management systems and e-discovery tools.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Of! fice Suite (Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel), Adobe Professional, Lexis, CourtLink, PACER and various Internet research tools.
  • Seven or more years of advanced paralegal experience or a combination of advanced paralegal and business area experience in a law firm or corporate environment with a particular emphasis on single-family residential real estate including foreclosures bankruptcies, evictions, property settlements and litigation.
  • Bachelor-s degree in Legal Studies, Political Science, Criminal Justice or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired.
Preferred Skills
  • Facilitate team operations by discussions through the sharing of information and knowledge, identification of teamwork issues, development of problem-solving recommendations, and recommendations of standardizing team operations.
  • Willingness to partner with Legal Analyst Manager to ensure! appropriate coverage of work activities during team members- absences ! from the office and to assess training needs for the team.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously and to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Willingness to apply initiative and take ownership for individual assignments/projects.
  • Strong organizational skills demonstrated through good time-management, record keeping and follow-up.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and professionally with senior management, internal clients, loan servicers, and in-house and outside legal counsel regarding moderately complex issues.
  • Ten or more years of advanced paralegal and/or business area expertise in mortgage law and litigation in a law firm or corporate environment with a particular emphasis on single-family residential real estate including foreclosures bankruptcies, evictions and property settlements.
  • Paralegal Certificate ! and/or advanced degree.
