Department of Human Resources 2012-2013 Teaching Vacancies Coordinator of Social Work Services Job Description: Under the supervision of the Director of Special Services or design! ee, the Coordinator of Social Work Services provides leadership in the development, implementation and coordination of the school district's social work services, programs, and professional growth opportunities. The Coordinator of Social Work Services serves as a resource for school administrators and community service providers. Job Qualifications 1.Holds a current license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker by the Commonwealth of Virginia.2.Earned master's of social work from an accredited school of social work with a minimum of 60 graduate hours.3.Supervised practicum or field experience of a minimum of 400 clock hours in an accredited school discharging the duties of a school social worker or completion of a minimum of one year full-time supervised successful experience as a school social worker in an accredited school.4.School social work practice: 3 semester hours at the graduate level.5.A minimum of 6 graduate semester hours distributed in at least two of the follow! ing: school law; school administration; assessment and evaluat! ion; and education of the exceptionalities.6.Ongoing evidence of mental and physical competence to perform assigned responsibilities may be required from a qualified physician.7.An applicant who has had prior experience in a related position must have a performance rating which is acceptable to Stafford County Public Schools for such experience. Duties and Responsibilities: 1.Guide the development, implementation and evaluation of social work services provided in the school division.2.Serve as the Homeless Education Liaison and ensure school system compliance pertaining the McKinney-Vento Act and the educational rights of students experiencing homelessness.3.Provide on-going staff development and direction to the school social workers for the purposes of professional development and skill enhancement.4.Assist in the process of observations and evaluations of the school social workers.5.Provide guidance and direction to the staff of the Office of Attendance Services with reg! ard to navigating the appropriate use of the juvenile courts, implementing comprehensive programming to improve school attendance, and exploring current attendance policies and procedures.6.Assist in the process of observations and evaluations of the staff of the Office of Attendance Services.7.Represent the school division on the Family Assessment and Planning Team (FAPT).8.Develop and maintain school division protocol for the purposes of identification and tracking students experiencing homelessness.9.Implement comprehensive programming to identify homeless students and promote their school attendance and educational success.10.
Collaborate efforts with the Head Start program to ensure appropriate identification and provision of services for homeless children.11. Participate in community outreach and education initiatives for homeless and at-risk children and youth.12. Implement education and training opportunities for parents of homeless students concerning educ! ational rights and available community resources.13. Provide profession! al development to school personnel to increase the awareness of and sensitivity to the educational rights and needs of homeless students.14.
Disseminate information to social workers regarding professional organizations and professional development activities.15. Maintain a working relationship with the Court Services Unit, Stafford Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Clerk's Office, and Stafford County judges to effectively reduce truancy.16. Collaborate with community agencies to assess community needs and develop programming designed to meet the needs of at-risk students and their families.17. Provide for an effective working relationship with school personnel, community service providers, parents, and students.18.
Seek grant opportunities to augment county resources for social work programs and to administer any programs for which grant money is received.19. Actively pursue professional growth activities.20. Adhere to guidelines of confidentiality as! outlined in federal and state laws, School Board Policies and Procedures, and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics.21. Maintain appropriate case records and documentation.22.
