Senior Research Associate - Criminal Justice Duties: Will work under supervision by a Principal Investigator and/or Project Man! ager. Specific responsibilities include managing research projects and/or large tasks; business development (proposal writing); conducting major analyses involving both qualitative and quantitative methods; and supervising research staff. May involve the evaluation of training and technical assistance (TTA) initiatives. Specific expertise in one or more areas of justice and/or substance abuse research is required (i.e. victim services, corrections, forensics, policing), as is experience designing, implementing, and conducting program assessments/evaluations, or the analysis of large-scale data. Will be responsible for management of large project tasks, including fiscal control. Contributing to research design and methodologies. Overseeing multi-mode data collection. Conducting complex data analysis using statistical analysis software such as SAS or SPSS. Contributing to business development and corporate initiatives. Teaching and mentoring juniors staff quantitative procedu! res and techniques.
Basic Qualifications: A Ma! ster's degree, J.D. degree. 5+ years of relevant work experience in Sociology, Criminology, Economics, Psychology, or related social science field. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize. Project/task management and supervision of staff is preferred. Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making capabilities. Superior interpersonal and communication skills including courtesy, professionalism, and a cooperative attitude. Ability to quickly relate to very senior level leaders in the criminal justice field. Ability to work under time pressure and meet multiple deadlines, as well as put in extra time (when necessary) to meet critical deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft applications and at least one statistical software program. Preferred: The ideal candidate should possess high quality writing skills, strong quantitative skills, exceptional presentation skills, and the proven ability to work collaboratively with criminal justice! practitioners. Understanding of the principles of training and technical assistance (TTA) initiatives. Experience in proposal writing and other business development, as well as a publication record. Quantitative analysis, econometric modeling, and cost-benefit/ROI experience. Geocoding and mapping experience.
