Under minimal supervision, performs professional work assisting victims and witnesses in criminal court case! s, and administrating the Victim Witness Program in the County. Contacts victims and witnesses and explains the criminal justice system, their rights, and available community services. Assists victims in preparing for testimony in court, and arranges transportation as needed. Responsible for notifying victims and witnesses of court and hearing dates and times and notifying them of case updates. Employee must exercise considerable tact, courtesy and discretion in frequent contact with program clients, criminal justice agencies and the general public. Reports to the Commonwealth's Attorney.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, sociology, or a related field, and 3 to 5 years experience in case management, counseling or direct delivery of human services; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
