The VA Dept of Taxation's Court Debt Collections Unit is seeking collectors. The unit is responsible for assisting jurisdictions of the Commonwealth of Virgini! a to enforce court orders by collecting fines and providing outstanding customer service to the offices of the Commonwealth's Attorneys, all Clerks' offices and defendants with integrity, efficiency and consistency.

This unit is currently seeking customer service oriented collectors to collect court fines owed to jurisdictions within the Commonwealth of Virginia in an efficient and consistent manner in order to provide the highest level of customer service.

Minimum Qualifications
This opportunity requires work experience in collections, customer service and/or legal enviro! nment utilizing an automated collection or case management sys! tem. Entry-level investigative methods, collection techniques and procedures.
Knowledge of State of Virginia laws, rules and regulations that pertain to garnishments.
Customer service principles and practices.
Must perform basic mathematical calculations and use personal computer operations including utilizing spreadsheets, keyboarding and word-processing software.
Skill in negotiating collections on delinquent accounts and use of enhanced automated telephone systems.

Preferred Qualifications
Prefer bilingual candidate who is fluent in Spanish. Skill with software applications such as FMS, DMV, CACSG, VEC and AR or related applications is preferred. A college or business degree is preferred.
Special Requirements
The selected candidate will be prohibited from performing tax or accounting services for compensation du! ring or outside business hours. A background investigation including criminal history, tax records and DMV check (if applicable) will be conducted.
