For detail informations about this job opportunity please give attention to these descriptions. Manages and leads a team of engineers and technicians for the Streetlight and Developer Default Branch. Supervises the daily operation of the Streetlight Program to include adding streetlights to the County inventory, manages and forecasts the streetlight annual budget, coordinates engineering reviews of detailed development projects to ensure streetlight and pedestrian walkway lighting installations meet all local and state requirements. Represents the county in working with senior level representatives from Dominion Virginia Power and NOVEC to resolve policy level issues related t! o streetlights. Provides leadership in changing requirements f! or streetlight and pedestrian walkway design in increasingly urbanized areas such as Tysons Corner. Supervises the Developer Default Section with the goal of closing developer default projects to eliminate county responsibilities; performs extensive coordination with the Board of Supervisors, LDS, County Attorney, and other agencies. Assures fiscal control of Default funds and prepares all required budget updates. Manages all design and construction activities to fully complete Default projects, includes scoping, bidding, inspection, change management, and payment for required work. Prepares VDOT street acceptance packages as required for Default projects. Coordinates and implements the Board of Road Viewers (BORV) program amongst VDOT, the county, and the BORV members to establish recommendations and priorities to gain VDOT acceptance of roads currently maintained by the county. Manages the construction of various Capital Improvement projects that are assigned to the Branc! h, which are typically related to bus pads and shelters, traffic calming measures, sidewalks and trails, minor roads and miscellaneous public improvements. Responsible for overall personnel management of all branch employees. Reports to the county's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) as needed to support DPWES Emergency Response and Recovery. Plays a lead role in providing strategic leadership for ongoing process improvement and organizational development, safety training and awareness, employee development, quality assurance and environmental stewardship. Duties are performed under the general supervision of the Director of Utilities Design and Construction Division.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Graduation from a four-year college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technologies with a bachelor's degree in the appropriate engineering or architecture field; plus five years of progressively responsible professional ex! perience in the appropriate engineering or architectural field.
Requirements:
Possession of a valid Virginia Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect (RA) license. Must possess a valid motor vehicle driver's license. The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer prior to appointment. May be required to report to the EOC after-hours and work 12-hour shifts at the EOC as needed. Positions may be relocated to other job sites as business needs arise.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Fairfax County Land Development process and VDOT street acceptance process. Ability to creatively resolve unique Developer Default issues. Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel).
