Working in accordance with established Policies and Procedures and State Regulations, oversees and manages the residents’ health and wellness issues and assigned staff. Acts as Manager on Duty as necessary and assigned.

Role Qualifications:
Must adhere and lead staff to adhere to or exceed established Policies and Procedures (P ! and P), Morningside House Standards, regulatory practices, and state and federal regulations for assisted living facilities
Supervises health and wellness staff as assigned to include: disciplinary issues, orientations and ongoing training
Professionally assists marketing department with community tours, exhibits excellent customer service skills in dealing with prospective residents and their families both in person and on the telephone
Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication, organization, problem-solving, time management and interpersonal skills.

Position Responsibilities:
Responsible for all admission and readmission criteria based on established Policies and Procedures (P and P) for residents admitted on their shift
Coordinates completion of admission/readmission process to oncoming shift including completion of wellness visit, verification of physician orders, transcription to Medication Administration Recor! d (MAR)/Treatment Administration Record (TAR), faxing all orde! rs to pharmacy, communication with family, assures staff communication via change in status log and Shift Supervisor report, and documentation in residents’ health record
Assures that all medication is available for administration
Responsible for on-going management of current residents to include completion of wellness visit, verification of physician orders, transcription to Medication Administration Record (MAR)/Treatment Administration Record (TAR), faxing all orders to pharmacy, communication with family, assures staff communication via change in status log and Shift Supervisor report, and documentation in residents’ health record
Processes all verbal and written physician orders per P and P and faxes to pharmacy and physician for signature
Oversees and assists with medication administration when needed and as necessary and assures that all medication is available for administration per policy and procedure. Reviews MARs and assures that medication ! technicians are following the Six Rights of Medication administration and completion documentation to include narcotic count accuracy.
Responsible for assuring completion of monthly change over of POS’s/MAR’s/TAR’s and notification, communication, and follow up to physician of pharmacy recommendations as directed and in accordance with policy and procedure
Notifies Director of Health and Wellness/physician and Power of Attorney (POA) of any medication event, documents event on approved form, and documents notification in resident health record.
Monitor and document residents’ health status and reporting any changes to physician, H and WD or designee and POA immediately
Oversees adequate supply and maintenance of all equipment and supplies to ensure that all functions related to resident care and operations of department are at an optimal level at all times
As a supervisor must be able to demonstrate strong critical thinking skills, leadership, co! mpetently manage all emergencies, provide guidance, training and when n! ecessary disciplinary action to include complete written documentation as per policy and procedure. Responsible for ensuring adequate staff are on duty at all times .Notifies ED, H and WD and/or DDC for approval of overtime.
Ensures that all individual residents’ medical equipment and related supplies are available and functional at all times (i.e. individual glucometer and associated strips, safety syringes and safety lancets) and community equipment such as sharps containers, thermometer, blood pressure cuff, and stethoscope are available and in working order
Must be knowledgeable with all aspects of billing and ordering for resident and facility to include treatment charges, incontinence needs (Freedom Program) and procedural reporting of changing needs to Director of Health and Wellness (D H and W) and Executive Director (ED).
Responsible for assigning, tracking and ongoing maintenance for all walkie-talkies, pagers, and resident room keys.
Oversees st! aff training and full compliance in all areas to include fire drills/evacuations/ disaster protocol and infection control as per company P and P and state regulation
Ensures safe evacuation of all residents and staff in an emergency
As Manager on Duty (MOD) handles all resident and family complaints/requests and reports to DH and W and ED.
Responsible for ensuring that staff adhere to established safety procedures and OSHA recommendations and requirements and participates in Safety Committee
Assists and coordinates the development and on-going training for all nursing staff to maintain or exceed compliance with Morningside Standards, P and P, and state and federal regulation
Other duties as directed

Essential Functions, Experience and Skills:
Must be able to maintain satisfactory attendance as per Policy 871 and must be able to report for duty as scheduled
Current CPR and First Aid Certification
Must have working knowledge of ! established Human Resource policy and procedures and must work to ensur! e compliance with all federal, state and local regulations and employment laws.
Must maintain current registered nursing license for practice in the state of Maryland or Virginia as per regulatory guidelines
Has a working knowledge of who and when to call in emergencies
Three (3) to five (5) years in a nurse management or supervisory role
Demonstrates knowledge and clinical expertise in nursing
Time Management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities in an efficient manner
Exhibits strong leadership skills to include interviewing, hiring, providing guidance, training and when necessary administering disciplinary action to include complete written documentation as per P and P
Practices sound employment practices by adhering to all Morningside P and Ps and standards, local, federal and state regulations and employment laws
Must perform all duties in adherence of established policies and procedures
Exhibits excellent cu! stomer service and follow-through, communication and teamwork, safety practices, attendance and punctuality, adherence to company standards and strong leadership and supervisory skills
Must show ability to make sound judgments
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to speak and write effectively in English
Must exhibit ability to interact positively with a caring, nurturing and professional attitude
Commitment and adherence to company values and policies
Basic computer proficiency to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Must be a strong team player
Must be flexible and able to multi-task under pressure and deadlines
Extensive knowledge and ability to put into practice Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA) and DSS regulations for assisted living facilities
Must have strong organizational, interpersonal, time management, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Attends all meetings including, bu! t not limited to, QA/QI, department meetings, level of service, and mon! thly health and wellness.
Must be able to oversee and or perform all aspects of resident related care to include lifting, exerting up to forty (40) pounds
Must make rounds at a minimum of twice per shift
Knowledgeable of the Copper Ridge philosophy and level of care
Must adhere to confidentiality procedures to insure HIPAA and Morningside House standards are met or exceeded at all times and ensures compliance of staff
Notifies DH and W or designee of low inventory for office and medical supplies.
Other duties as directed
