Director, Assistant General Counsel

The candidate will supervise a team of marketing advisory attorneys and to review financial services marketing materials for compliance with all consumer regulatory laws and internal policies. Will report to the Associate General Counsel, Marketing. Will be responsible for: reviewing, and managing attorneys who review, credit card, home loans, auto, and commercial and retail bank (including mail, online and branch-based) marketing materials and practices; active engagement and legal support of escalated marketing initiatives for these business lines as part of a collaborative and cross-functional team; partnering closely with the Compliance department on quality assurance and testing processes; working with all lines of business, as well as Brand, Operations, IT and Compliance stakeholders to develop and operate sustainable marketing review and approval processes; and leading the development of, and updates to, enterprise legal marketing standards.
The candidate should have a J.D. degree. Must have 7 years of advisory, litigation and/or regulatory experience in consumer lending marketing laws and regulations with 2-3 years of management experience. Should preferably have 7-12 years of counsel or compliance experience with consumer finance laws, regulations and disclosures, especially mortgage, automobile and other secured and unsecured loans. In-house corporate legal experience is desired. Should preferably also have 5-8 years of management experience.
