Two of the Law Clerks will be based primarily in the City of Roanoke Courthouse and one in the City of Salem/County of Roanoke Courthouses. They will be required to travel among the three courthouses in the Circuit, as necessity requires, and handle a variety of tasks including conducting in-depth legal research using printed and computerized materials and the World Wide Web. They must be able to communicate professionally with lawyers and judges.
They also must have strong legal research and writing skills; up-to-date computer research skills; no criminal record. Must be a graduate of an accredited law school in the upper third of law school class; and a member, in good standing, of the Virginia State Bar or scheduled to take the Virginia Bar Exam in July 2013. These positions carry a one-year contract with salary of $45,742.00 and start September 3, 2013, with limited benefits.
