General Summary:
Develop and support tax positions taken primarily related to state tax audit defense and litigation strategies, vendor and supplier contracts, a! s well as ongoing business rules in tax systems and processes. Contingent liability review and support through tax research memos and other analysis. Advisory role in maintaining customer tax exemption records, sensitive or material telecom and other tax compliance obligations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide tax technical support for audits for all taxes including income, sales/use, franchise, gross receipts, telecom, excise, business license, consumption, utility, etc.
2. Support all audit defense activities, including audits, appeals, settlements, administrative hearings, litigation support
3. Provide research to support accruals, FAS 5 reserves, budgets and projections related to tax exposure and cases
4. Responsible for remaining current on all tax issues and ensuring that tax positions are defended
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Law degree (background in Tax and/or Accoun! ting)
- Licensures: Attorney, JD or LLM in Tax, CPA
- Relevant Work Experience: 10+ years knowledge of telecom-related taxes
