The USPS OIG is seeking a highly qualified applicant to fill an Attorney position in the Office of General Counsel located in Arlington, VA. Primary responsibilities of the position entail providing legal advice and services in the areas of employment and labor law, contracting and procurement law, federal appropriations law, Inspector General-related law, public sector employment litigation and civil litigation, legislation, and audits.
Candidates will be evaluated on the skills they possess that are directly related to the duties of the position and/or the experience, education and training that indicate the applicant's ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties o! f the position. The USPS OIG uses a Pay Banding system, which is equivalent to the Federal GS scale. Grade and salary determinations will be made based upon a candidate's education and professional experience.
This position is being advertised at the Journey Band/Attorney level, equivalent to a GS-12- GS-14. The salary range for this position is $74,872- $136,771. The salary figures include locality pay. *Career Ladder to GS-14 equivalent at management's discretion.

Furnishes legal advice and assistance on a wide variety of matters, ranging from simple to complex, that arise within the agency.
Represents the Office of Inspector General as an attorney on assigned cases before judges and hearing officers, including before the EEOC, MSPB, and federal courts. Conducts research in connection with cases to analyze factual and legal issues, and to determine what facts are needed and what legal sources are applicable for successful outcomes. (Examples of past successful experience will be requested.)
Works closely with other OIG attorneys, U.S. Attorney's Offices, the Department of Justice, and other organizations.! Keeps abreast of legal developments and best practices within the OIG ! community to effectively represent the OIG's interests.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
You must meet ALL of the minimum qualifications listed below.
Graduated from an ABA accredited law school with a Juris Doctor Degree with a grade point average (GPA) of a least 3.0;
Membership in good standing with a State Bar; and
At least 2 years professional legal experience
You must have the experience, knowledge and skills as listed in EACH of the evaluation factors. Failure to demonstrate that you meet all of the evaluation factor requirements as listed below will result in a score of zero (0); an ineligible status, and you will not be referred for further consideration.

Skill in writing legal opinions, policy analyses, client guidance and recommending appropriate action. (A writing sample is required.)
Ability to communicate effectively to represent the OIG in legal proceedings and maintain excellent client relationships
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of the US Postal Service's legal and labor relations policies
Experience in training and development of legal and labor relations best practices for stakeholders
Prior law firm or equivalent experience
