We have a great opportunity in our Legal Services Group for a Paralegal . Reporting to General Counsel, this position is r esponsible for supporting the lending, corporate, loan sale/servicing and member services functions. Assists staff lawyers in research activities, prepares loan and security and other corporate documents, clears loan documents and inputs clearance information into appropriate technology systems. Establishes and maintains good working relationship with co-lenders, provides & receives information as necessary. Provides other support services to CFC staff as required to assist and to enhance delivery of member s! ervices.

Essential Functions

Prepares standa! rd loan and security documents for loans and other credit facilities. Applies standard guidelines and evaluates non-standard situations. Assists in the creation of new systems where appropriate.

Tracking, filing, renewing UCCs and administering automated database.

Enters loan information into and administers automated database for loan clearance function.

Reviews contracts, opinions of counsel, articles of incorporation, bylaws and other corporate documents.

Makes independent determinations of whether opinions of counsel and other loan documents meet CFC requirements.

Assists borrowers in the execution and interpretation of and compliance with loan and security documents.

Applies Federal and state statutes as well as procedural and commission requirements as they affect company loan and security documents. Determines whether regulatory orders are sufficient for loan clearance.

Assists in conducting collateral pl! edging process.

Maintains record of and processes renewals for trademarks.

Coordinates documents, issues, workflow and record keeping between Legal Services and Member Services Groups.

Responds to requests for and provides information to internal groups and external entities in connection with all phases of lending operations, including pre-origination, documentation, closing and servicing.

Coordinates documents, issues and workflow between CFC and external entities (Rural Utilities Service and USDA’s Office of General Counsel).

Assists in membership application and maintenance process.

May perform specialized or confidential duties, including researching data and preparing reports related to the Legal staff assignments.

Shares administrative tasks with other legal services members in areas such as suggesting improvements to credit delivery process, updating and maintaining the Legal Services Group procedures ! manual, and participating in inter-department special project teams, e.! g. systems improvements with the Information Services Department.

Education, Experience, & Skills

Paralegal Certificate required.

Bachelor’s degree required.

Previous customer-oriented role and minimum of 3 years Paralegal experience.

Experience in the preparation of loan documentation in a commercial lending or real estate environment.

Loan origination, tracking & servicing systems.

MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access).

Document management software.

Statistical Sampling.
