Description: Mil Mujeres is currently seeking to employ Outreach Intern/Volunteer right now, this position will be placed in Virginia. Detailed specification about this position opportunity please give attention to these descriptions. Volunteer with Mil Mujeres' Immigrant Rights Campaign as an Outreach Intern/Volunteer! Assist immigrant victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in learning about their rights, and how to apply for immigrant visas based on their abuse and cooperation with law enforcement in reporting the crime. Interns and volunteers are needed to give "Know Your Rights" presentations, conduct intakes, and provide attorneys at Mil Mujeres with important information on their behalf. This is a good opportunity for students to get credits.
Activities include:
1. Giving Know Your Rights presentations to the Latino community
2. Conducting intake with victims
3. Learning about the U-visa for victims of certain crimes, including domestic violence and sexual assault, and the VAWA self-petition for battered spouses of US citizens and legal permanent residents
4. Interviewing clients and conducting brief client intakes.
Skills Spanish fluency required
Requirements Enthusiastic to work with immigrant population Able to volunteer at least 3-5 hours per week
